Frequently asked questions
Is Chess Arena free?
Yes. Every game is free to play in your browser.
Do I need an account?
No sign-up is needed. Your browser keeps a generated account, and you can link it to Google in Settings so that you can keep your progress on another device. Clearing your browser data removes an unlinked account.
What are lives?
Most games and puzzle batches cost one life. You hold up to five, and they refill over time. You can also choose to watch an ad for more.
How does the rating work?
Each game has its own rating, which starts at 1200. It rises when you win and falls when you lose, and a result against a stronger opponent moves it further.
How do I play with a friend?
Open a game, press Invite a friend and share the link or the table code. Your friend opens the link and joins your table.
Can I install it?
